IAWLS General Assembly, Falls Creek, August 26, 2011

President’s Report
This report summarizes the actions undertaken by the Executive Committee after the previous report submitted to the General Assembly in 2010. It has been a very busy time for the president the last two years and time for IAWLS has not been as much as hoped. Therefore this report is done by ECM Lars Vagle.

1) Relations with the Members
Membership
Late summer 2011 we are approximately 330 individual members. One member has also been running a Facebook-page in the name of IAWLS. We did not shut down that page but kept it running as long as it presented IAWLS and WL news in a nice way. That “page” has approximately 330 supporters (so called “Likes”).
Advice for skiers
ECM has kept on helping members by replying to emails received. A key element in our goals.
Race reports
Despite a unusual low level of activity we managed to publish illustrated race reports from most WL races in 2011. This is not a key goal but keeps the webpages popular and traffic high. It also gives new skiers a good review of the races when they evaluate what WL races to do.
Website
In addition to race reports there have been other good articles on our webpages with subjects as ski marathon and related info.
Race Evaluation Questionnaires
This is a system that lately have not resulted in many feedbacks so our compilations and forwarding of this has been very low to none. We must re-evaluate what we should do here for the future. Do race organizers have their own feedback systems?

2) Relations with WL and WL races

Due to a low level of activity we have not written a letter to WL in 2010. We will this year write them.

Our previous letters to WL have content and suggestions that are still valid today and can be reviewed and reminded of, again. 

Jizerska50 have in 2011 again received their seeding tables made by IAWLS ECM Lars Vagle. They appreciate this effort from IAWLS and we will keep helping them with this. We have been giving them this seeding system since the 2007 race.

One issue this season that should be addressed was the “technical stop” in Bieg Piastov. That must be changed and we think race organizers know this well and will be doing just so.

3) Composition of the Executive Committee

Jacek Jaskowiak has announced that he steps down from his role as president. The new president is Lars Vagle (NOR) who was elected by executive committee in August 2011.

Piotr Szkarat ended his time as ECM in 2011. We thank him for good work as ECM during many years.

Christophe Joanblanq has accepted three new years as ECM. 2011-2014.

A new person from USA (Bjorn Hanson, Wisconsin) has been proposed as a new ECM and will be voted upon at the AGA. 2011-2014.

The committee members do not represent any particular country, they work for all WL skiers.
