Treasurer’s report
As explained on our web site, IAWLS has no money. We communicate with our members via email and our web site. All expenses deriving from this working method are taken care of by the Executive Committee members. In particular this year, Hannes paid for the registration of IAWLS and Bengt paid the expenses connected with the creation of the web site. Executive Committee members are volunteers spending anyhow a lot of time for the association, worth much more than these expenses.
At some stage of our development, need for money may arise. The two main possibilities are sponsors and membership fees. Concerning the second, we are not like an association or a club situated in one city or country. Collecting membership fees of an international association would be very complicated and we don’t envisage this for the foreseeable future. The membership fee is mentioned in the statutes which we drafted in a very general sense, it is even a condition for remaining a member. But the Executive Committee proposes for the General Assembly’s approval to fix the amount of the membership fee to zero.
Although cumulating the roles of President and Treasurer is frequent at least in France, I would not have accepted this double role if the Treasurer’s work had not been a mere formality.
My financial statement is very simple:
0 = 0.
