Meeting between the WL Secretary General and the IAWLS Executive Committee

Three IAWLS EC members, Hannes Larsson, Minoru Matsuyama and Robert Palliser, met WL SG Angelo Corradino on January 25, 2006 in Cavalese. This gave the opportunity for a fruitful exchange of information and interesting discussions.

1. The IAWLS representatives reported on the very successful first IAWLS General Assembly which took place in Lienz on January 21, 2006. (see forthcoming minutes on this web site)

2. We discussed some details of the presentation that the IAWLS President Hannes Larsson is invited to give at the WL Annual General Meeting on June 17, regarding the Global Worldloppet Skier (GWLS) idea. Reminder: this proposal was approved by the WL Executive Committee and the decision belongs to the WL AGM.

3.The WL Masters data bank needs to be completed and possible errors corrected. See separate article on this web site.

4. A IAWLS member, Lars Vagle from Norway, had volunteered to make the required software for Virtual passports free of charge. This necessitates a deeper discussion of some technical problems. Angelo proposed to meet Lars at one of the WL venues this season. Of course, the virtual passport will be an additional option since most skiers prefer to have the real paper passport.

5. No new WL races will be introduced in the next two years. IAWLS suggested that we should be consulted at an early stage of any discussion with a new candidate.

6. We asked Angelo to replace the box IAWLS on the WL web site by the explicit words Skiers' association. Many skiers don't yet know what the acronym IAWLS stands for and don't click on a box which does not evoke anything interesting in their mind.
