Assiduous Worldloppet Nations

September 1, 2006

We have earlier presented a few assiduous skiers and we thought that it would also be interesting to see which countries have the most assiduous skiers. We could define this in several ways. One would be to see which countries have the most members in IAWLS. However, it may be more interesting to see which countries have the most masters. This is found on the WL web site which also gives the number of passport holders etc. We raised the bar a bit by saying that you have to have at least two masters to be an assiduous skier. We then said that we would give those skiers one point for each Master that they have. This gave us the following ranking. We have also added a column to the right with the number of skiers from these nations that are members of IAWLS.

MM stands for Multiple Masters.

In addition to the countries mentioned above we have members from Hungary, Iceland and Spain.

The data is the situation at the end of the 2005-2006 season as taken from the WL yearbook.

This table was compiled by Hannes Larsson and Bengt Karlsson.
