Jizerská Padesátka will use the Ideal Start system

October 18, 2007

We have informed our readers about the revolutionary start system adopted by Marcialonga last January. It introduced a new era in Worldloppet races by suppressing the "battle field effect" from the start area and avoiding bottlenecks created by mass starts. A few days ago Jizerská Padesátka's Martin Koucky told IAWLS President Hannes that they have decided to adopt the Ideal Start next January.

We congratulate Jizerská Padesátka (J50) for this development. J50 has a particularly difficult technical problem in the first part of the track through a protected forest where trees cannot be cut to make it wider. The wave start used in recent years did not totally eliminate the crowding of the track in this area. The Ideal Start is expected to be a significant step in the endeavour of this race towards perfection.
