BP/ESM Express

November 25, 2008

In 2009 Bieg Piastow takes place on Saturday, March 7, and the Engadin Ski Marathon on Sunday, March 8. There are assiduous WL skiers who would like to ski both races but the problem is to make the transfer from Poland to Engadin.
We are considering the rental of a minibus or a bus. For the moment being, the details are not known, but the project looks roughly as follows:
After the race immediate boarding in the bus. The driving takes 15 hours and there will be two drivers. Fast evening snack along the road, or we will carry the snacks in the bus. Breakfast from the backpack.  Arrival in St Moritz before 8 AM, local bus to Maloja in time to pick up the bibs. After the race the bus will wait in the parking area and drive us to the Munich Airport where we can reserve a hotel for a good night’s sleep, before taking the flights back home on Monday.
If we get a sufficient number of participants, the cost of the transport will remain under 150 Euros each. The hotel at the Munich airport is everybody’s own responsibility but we can recommend a suitable hotel. It is not possible to arrange for different options for those who do not want to come to Munich after the ESM. We must stress that this is a difficult transfer, to be undertaken only by WL enthusiasts. Don’t expect much sleep and postpone your dream of beating your personal best in ESM to another year.
The project is reserved for IAWLS members. There is a problem of timing; therefore the bus must leave early enough from the BP finish area. Skiers must be capable to finish the race in less than 5 hours (average speed not less than 10 km/h).
The idea is to either finalize or to cancel the project before the end of the year.
