Sapporo Ski Marathon 2010

Congratulation 30th anniversary Sapporo Ski Marathon.!!
I remember last year’s stormy wet snowing weather, but it was very lucky cold weather condition in 2010, no wind sunshine all day. Temperature is low, morning −11°C ,start −7°C snow temp −8°C, snow was hard.
Total entry 2536 skiers, including 88 skiers from 16 overseas contries participated, including Mr.Andrus Ansip Prime Minister of Estonia. Mr Angelo Corradini Secretary General of World Loppet.
Race was good but a bit of slow ski under the cold weather, hard snow.
Women’s 50 km winner Belinda Philips from Australia had good ski races in Hokkaido this winter, one week before Sapporo ski marathon she was 2nd place Otaki ski marathon 30 km FT , one week after Sapporo ski marathon she was winner again Miyasama ski marathon 38.3 km FT.
On Saturday afternoon we had a welcome party in the Sapporo Dome, special speech from 3 WL skiers, Mr. Yasuo Taira (Japanese first WL master No.141), Mr. Andrus Ansip (Prime Minister of Estonia) & Mr. Angelo Corradini. This party was very nice with Sapporo Beer,wine & snack without charge.
First time Jr. sprint race (100 m~400 m) was held on Saturday afternoon, but not so good organized, not fun for little skiers & audience.

Remember this race is the only one WL race that has never been cancelled and never been shortened during its 30 years of existence.

687 finishers in 50km, 619 finishers in 25km.
