Transjurassienne 2010
March 10, 2010
This was a very good year for La Trans with fresh snow, sun and a lot of lively people in the villages, particularly during Sunday's race.
Saturday : 3, races in classic style (54 km, 25 km and 10 km). Very good tracks starting from Les Rousses for the long distance with a fantastic blue sky (… and blue wax). With the start at ten o'clock you didn't have to wake up too early. Half of the participants are not French, they are coming from Scandinavia.
Sunday : 2 long distances, counting for the Gold Master : 54 km and the famous 76 km. More than 2000 people choose the longer distance, with 150 who decided to run the Ultra Trans which is the 50 km classic on Saturday and the 76 km free style on Sunday. A special recognition is given to the skiers that complete the Ultra Trans. There was also a short distance race (30 km).
There were a lot of spectators during the race, especially in Les Rousses, for the special ”Montée des Horlogers”. This race is difficult (more than 9 hours for the last one) but so pleasant, so much fun. For me we have here the most beautiful and various landscape you can find in all the WL races! This is of course subjective.
This year there was no bottleneck : the organizers have listened our proposition to prepare two tracks after Bois d’Amont to climb up to the Chalet des Ministers in the Massacre forest.
I have one advice: sleep in Les Rousses college : it’s at start of the classic race, it is not expensive (41 € with dinner and breakfast), comfortable, pleasant to speak with other WL runners, family life and good food. You can have breakfast at 5 in the morning and on Sunday a bus is waiting for you in front of the door to join the 76 km start (and come back after the race). And if you are running the Ultra trans, you can collect the two bibs at the same time, just before the classic race.
There is only one thing to change and that is the time of the WL party. Seven in the evening is too late if you don’t sleep in Les Rousses.
